CTV beats CBC and NBC
I'm loving CTV's coverage of the Olympics. As we pull into the home stretch for the 2010 games I feel like I've watched more sports, more often live, than any other Olympics. I know having it in my time zone helps, but so does having three channels to watch it on. My channel changing fingers are setting Olympic records jumping between TSN, CTV and Sportsnet. The announcers are no better than CBC and man was I disappointed to see Brian Williams. He's not my favourite host and when he showed up on my screen I was not impressed (I hear he jumped ship from CBC right after they lost the rights to the games.) He's very good and at least he's not on constantly like he was at Beijing.
As for NBC - I'm glad I don't live in the U.S. Their coverage stinks and I don't think they've shown anything live yet. What do you think about the Olympic coverage so far?
I was also really impressed with CTV's Olympics coverage as compared to CBC coverage in the past!!
Firstly their commercials leading up to the games that introduced us to various athletes that we otherwise wouldn't really know much about were awesome! Hearing Donald Sutherland give us a quick background on each athlete's journey to the Olympics in those commercials really personalized the Games for the viewers (at least tis one!) Nevermind the beautiful footage!
They also had a really good variety of commentators & hosts during the Games as well....I really only saw Brian Williams in evenings. The Olympic morning hosts were by far my favourite! It seemed like they were all having such a great time and had funny features and clips mixed in with the athlete interviews and updates. Just a nice laid back fun atmosphere, a little less stodgy and stiff as it has been in the past.
All I can say is Well Done!! And I look forward to watching their coverage in two years at the London Olympics in 2012!
