The Siberian Express is underway

Hitting the ice.

As reported in the March/April issue of explore, Canadians Ray Zahab and Kevin Vallely are attempting to set yet another adventure record—this time for the fastest trip across frozen Lake Baikal in Russia.

Zahab and Vallely are hoping to cover the 650-kilometre route in about 11 days. Last year, the two were part of a three-man team that set a new record for the fastest unsupported trek to the South Pole.
